Roy Griak Invitational
The 2025 edition of the Roy Griak Invitational at the University of Minnesota did not disappoint. As always, the competition and course provided one of the biggest challenges of the year. The bulldogs stepped up to that challenge by getting strong positioning early, 10th at the mile, and raced tough over the rouged 5k course. Once all runners crossed the line and points were calculated, the team finished 12th out of 43 teams in the championship race!
Avery Hacker placed 11th overall, an amazing feat considering there were 396 runners in the field. She was followed by Gwennie Krodel in 32nd place, Chloe Kammes 112th, Maddie Cassidy 123rd, Sara Wolfe 141st, Halle Hillman 186th, Claire Deppe 236th, Gianna Cesarone 289th, Resse Knysak 297th, and Sadie Tesdall in 319th.

First to the Finish Invitational
In a competitive field in Peoria this past weekend, the varsity bulldogs tied for 6th place overall but officially placed 7th on the 6th runner tiebreaker. The team showed grit throughout the race battling tough competition and extreme heat, which has become a tradition at First to the Finish.
Leading the charge was junior Avery Hacker, who continued her outstanding season with a front-running performance. Avery placed 2nd individually, running a composed race showing that she can run with anyone in the state! Also placing in the top ten was Gwennie Krodel (7th) in her first 3-mile race of the season. Rounding out the team scoring was Maddie Cassidy (55th), Sara Wolfe (68th) and Chloe Kammes (69th).

Hinsdale Red Devil Invitational
A pair of 7th place team finishes for Varsity and Open highlight the Hinsdale Red Devil invite.
The bulldogs ran into some very tough competition this past weekend at Hinsdale. The varsity team was led by Avery Hacker with a big negative split race to finish 3rd individually amongst several returning all-state runners. She was followed across the line by the pack of Sara Wolfe (48th), Halle Hillman (52nd) and Chloe Kammes in 58th. Rounding out the scoring for the Bulldogs was Claire Deppe in 79th place.
The Open team was led by Maddie Cassidy in 7th, followed closely by Fiona Beck (24th) and Maddy Moraes in 30th. The team scoring was aided by Chloe Moore and Maggie Garcia as the all important 4th and 5th runners. Special shoutout to Delfina Arnaldi for finishing her first high school cross country race!
The Frosh/Soph team placed 8th as a team. Reese Knysak was the first Bulldog across the line in 28th place with a nice PR and big improvement from last week. Sadie Tesdall (52nd) and Morgan Merritt (58th) were not far behind and picked up key places to help with the team scoring. Riley Eifrid (73rd) and Zoe Farrar (79th) worked well moving up throughout the race and finished as 4th and 5th scorers for the frosh/soph team this week. Both girls dropped 30 seconds from their time the previous week!

Kane County Invitational

Great start to the season!
For most girls, this was their first chance at a 3-mile race in 2025. While the open race was 2.4 miles, varsity and frosh/soph raced 3 miles. This is a nice benchmark to start the season. The bulldogs are excited to see how much they can improve. Ladies, take advantage of every Saturday invite from here on out to test your fitness. |
